On May 11, 2025, Hey Pastor — a soulful collaboration between rising R&B artist Felix Ames and Brooklyn’s own Kota the Friend — premiered as a VEVO Music Video on YouTube. Directed and edited by Sharik Geneve, the visual is a haunting and heartfelt journey that unfolds inside a stunning, century-old church in SoHo, New York. With its minimal yet moving storytelling, the video mirrors the emotional plea of the song: a cry for understanding, redemption, and self-discovery.

The concept for Hey Pastor was born from the idea of a literal and metaphorical return to the church — a place of reckoning. Sharik envisioned a character-driven visual rooted in vulnerability and intimacy, and found the perfect location in an old church that matched the mood and tone imagined from the start. Despite a small crew and a tight one-day shoot, the production delivers cinematic scale through thoughtful composition, expressive editing, and richly textured lighting.

Costume design by Morgana Van Peebles and makeup artistry by Ryn Maioriano brought Felix’s signature style into vivid harmony with the dancers and setting, creating a cohesive aesthetic that’s both spiritual and modern. The collaborative spirit behind the scenes reflects Sharik’s deep creative relationship with Felix Ames — a friendship and partnership built over the past year. With this video, Sharik continues to cement her vision as a director deeply attuned to narrative, style, and soul.
